We’re rolling up our sleeves here in Toronto, using modular housing as one tool to put up homes faster and tackle our housing needs head-on.
Our housing crisis requires an all-hands-on-deck approach. And we need to be embracing new technologies and approaches like modular housing to reach our housing targets and ensure that everyone can put a good roof over their heads.
I had the opportunity to show CTV’s Natalie Johnson around the BECC Modular factory in Ancaster. BECC is one of a number of Ontario companies who are developing game-changing technology and turning out everything from affordable housing to luxury hotel rooms, all from the same factory floor.
Their new units are being shipped to California, Ottawa and Saudi Arabia. Toronto needs to change our rules so that we can benefit from new homes just like this.
Check out the full story on the CTV website for an up-close look at this game-changing technology and my work on Council to include more builders for the homes we need.
Exciting changes ahead – let’s get building!
