Dear Minister Clark:

I am writing you as a candidate for Toronto City Council in the Beaches-East York riding, an
active community member, and an urban planner.

Our community wants to know that your government is committed to supporting local planning
decisions and will not reinstate the Ontario Municipal Board as a decision maker on local
planning.

Beaches-East York is a beautiful community to call home with residents of all backgrounds
wanting to live here, including young professionals, families, empty-nesters and new
Canadians. With this desirability, some developers have taken advantage of the old OMB rules
to force-through development. While knocking on over 40,000 doors, I have heard that my
neighbours want respect for the local community's voice.

We want and must have growth. But we want growth which respects the work our communities
do to set out a vision for how to grow. This includes ensuring we have affordable housing,
community spaces, and services alongside new development. Our community will not have
sustainable growth if the Ontario Government reinstates the OMB.

I am asking you to articulate your commitment to local planning before the municipal election
so that voters will know that local communities can have a real say in planning.

Sincerely,

Brad Bradford
Candidate, Beaches-East York
