Main Street Planning Study – A Vision for the Future

ByBrad Bradford

Growth is coming to the Main Street area. We need to ensure that this growth is managed properly to maintain the quality of community services and programs. At Community Council today, we approved new planning policies to guide our efforts in this area. The recommendations within the report address the important issues for the community; GO and TTC integration, significant increases in green space, and road safety.

I’ve heard from many community members about additional areas for improvement, and included additional recommendations to address them. Finding opportunities to incorporate low-carbon energy solutions, incorporating BikeShare and Green P parking, as well as informing school boards and the TTC of the growth so they can plan proactively.

This took multiple years of work and I want to thank everyone who engaged in the process. Even though the studies are done, we still need you to be involved as individual development applications get approved.
